All Topics / Value Adding / Renovators Help
Hi All,
Wondering if anyone out there who are doing renos in Melbourne could help us.
We just bought a property to do our 1st Reno.
We also bought the Renovation DVDs by Dean Parker and we sort of know what to renovate but are stuck on the following:
We need to know where to buy the cheapest supplies. On the DVD, Dean Parker mentioned he only goes to one place to get his supplies. We have been running around looking at places like Bunnings and Swan HomeBase and i must say they are quiet expensive.
Does anyone know in Melbourne where we can get cheap Kitchen (Cook Tops), Bathroom (ie,Shower Screens, Vanitys) and Landscaping products. ie Whole Sale supplier of everything or most things?
Or where do Renovators obtain their Supplies?
Your help is much appreciated.

Hey vluu75,
Go to Chris and Maries for your plants, they are pretty reasonable especially if you buy bulk.
Appliances head to Camberwell Electrics ask for Sam.

[laughing]Ive wasted many a day at auctions trying to pickup “bargains”
by the time you allow for buyers fees, credit card fees, delivery, petrol, time off work etc……..its actually cheaper to buy from Bunnings.
And for gods sake, if you are going to bid at auction, dont be an idiot like most I see. They will have 50 items available and these clowns will bid over each other trying to win. You dont even need to bid! Shut ya mouth and the price will end up cheaper, then put ya hand up when they ask “who wants one?”

Get on ebay. I saw a heap of kitchens in Melbourne being pulled out of homes that were still new. Same thing in Adelaide. Some of them were only a few hundred dollars. Even if you had to spend a few dollars to get a cabinetmaker to cut and fit a few bits it would still be cheap. There is also a couple of Salvage yards in Adelaide that stock kitchens, fixtures, fittings etc. I am sure Melbourne would have heaps of salvage yards also. Below are some links I got off the Reno Kings website.

http://www.buybuildingsupplies.com.au for materials (cheap and easy!!)
http://www.tradeconnect.com.au for finding trades
The Trade Connect setup is a good idea – when you need to find a tradesperson they sms brief job details to the tradies in your area. If they are available they call you to discuss – and it’s free!
