I’m building a house in Perth, that I intend to sell after a year.

I’ve obtained a few quotes from painters and most of them use Solver. I’ve got a quote for Wattyl and another for Taubmans.

The quote for Taubmans (low sheen) is the cheapest and I’m thinking of using that to maximise my returns. However, I heard that when it comes to paint, we get what we pay for. Hence, I’m cautious about going with the cheapest.

Does anyone have any comments about Taubmans or any other brands? I heard that when it comes to paint, we get what we pay for.

    How you doing?
I had a painting business for a few years.
As far as I know all those brands cost pretty much the same and I have used them all. I personally would not use solver. I generally used Wattle and only occasionally Taubmans. Wattle spend the most on Paint development and use superior ingredients to make an underpriced paint compared to the others. Another top brand is Haymes.
Most paints are guaranteed for 10 years, however I can tell you from experience not all paints last 10 years.
The paints I found lasted longest were Wattle and Haymes.
    Hope all that helps.

    Regards
    Frank

Thanks D and Frank for your replies.

Based on your feedback, I’ll most likely use Dulux, Haymes or Wattyl for my boyfriend’s house which will most likely be our principal place of residence in 1.5 years.

I don’t intend to stay in this house that I’m currently building for more than a year. As long as the paint still looks good then, I guess it will be ok. Moreover, the new owner will most probably want to choose his/her own colours.

Frank, based on your reply, am I right to say that Taubmans is better than Solver?
