Hi everyone, for my first reno i am considering removing exiting vinyl cladding and exposing the original timber weatherboards underneath.
Has anyone had any experience with this and can let me know if it is worth doing. The current vinyl boards look ok but are faded/aged and dont have the wow factor of a newly painted surface. I am worried about the level of damage which may exist to the original timber weatherboards.
Thanks Mark.[suave2]
Did you consider painting the cladding? If you expose the weather boards your cost of repairing Rot or missing boards will be great. And on top of that you will have to pain the whole house anyway.
I would consider removing the cladding very, very carefuly before starting down a time and money consuming path.

Email MeWe were advised not to remove the cladding on our property as it would be very time consuming to plug up all the holes created by the framing that is used to attach the cladding to the original weatherboards.
Not sure if you can paint over it though as its so smooth ?Amanda
