Hi my name is stiven I want to tell you about a major plumbing problem my dad had when he brought his first home, the sewerage would block up we would then call a plumber he would un block it 1 week later the same thing would happen after calling the plumber several times to un block it we then found out that it wasnt the sewerage blocked on our lot the sewerage was blocked on the main in the councils area, we then asked coucil to fix the problem up they said no its not our responsibility the responsibility is for the owner to fix it up my dad called a few plumbers to give him a quote, the cost was about $5000 to $10000 doallers. The plumbers had to cut out a pieace from the wroad which was a huge job the road had to be closed and machinery called in. We ended up paying fot the cost after receiving advice from a lawyer he said that the court case would cost to much money and if you lost you would have to pay all legal cost because the sewerage was built about 50 years ago council did not except responsibility. My dad being a fair bloke payed for it.We eventaley found out what the problem was it was a huge rock in the sewerage preventing flow. The lesson from this is when you buy a proprety get a declration from the owners that there arent any problem with plumbing in council area and of course your house.

Things must work differently in different parts of the country. In Melbourne the owner is only responsible up to the boundary trap. After that it is the responsibility of the appropriate water authority.
