    Greetings,

My wife and I stumbled on a few books, one of them being Steve’s book “0 to 130…” – I’m sure you all know the one.
We are new to the country, been here for a few months as permanent residents, coming from South Africa (good rugby, but we won’t mention it), anyway, we are keen to get going with investing in property, but – I guess a familiar situation – where to start???
We are trying to put a strategy together to help guide us – although we have never embarked on something as audacious as this. So I have some questions that I hope some of you guru’s (in comparison to us you are) can help us with.

1.We live in Sydney, North Shore – Are there really any positive geared properties to be found?

2.What are good resources to use to find them?

3.Can anyone make any recommendations for a good Accountant (in the Sydney Area) to help us with the tax and financial related issues?

4.Ditto that for a good Solicitor – for the legal side.

5.Can anyone suggest any good books etc that I can read to get ready for this adventure?

6.Once you find a property, I guess the next thing is to decide how to finance it… Interest only etc. How do you decide?

7.We don’t own a house as yet; can we still get a loan for an investment house/s?

Any and all help will be highly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Welcome to Australia!

Some quick answers to some of your queries – same numbering used:

    2. http://www.realestate.com.au and forums such as this one will help identify areas to look at.

    3. Nick Moustacas is your man at http://www.strategicwealthmanagement.com.au

    5. Do a search for books and you will see many recommended here.

    6. Establish a relationship with a good mortgage broker. He will help you decide the best avenue and then put it together at no charge.

    7. Absolutely yes.

    All the best
