Has anyone tried to open a usa bank account in order to buy usa properties by flying to Hawaii?

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard!!!
Why would you need to go to Hawaii?

Or check out this post on the same page that this is on.
Liz,
You can open up a personal US HSBC account here in oz.
If you want to open up a US LLC or business account I think you need to be there. There might be an option to have a business account opened by an attorney under power of attorney.
or just go to Hawaii and have a good time and open up a bank account in between pina coladas and the surf
If you will need a structure to invest from, I’ve heard of people setting up LLC companies in Las Vegas. They set them up in this state because they have no state taxes as per my current understanding.
There are people on this forum who know investing in the US quite well so I’m sure you wont have too much trouble finding out what you need to know.
i have heard that bank accounts with HSBC -you need to be with them for 6 months first and they are not as as good as other uSA bank accounts- is this true?

Liz, 6 months for a business account but you can open a personal account straight away. Wouldn’t know how they compare with other banks in US but they are a major bank.
Bank of Hawaii are the best.
Go to http://www.paypal.com and have a look around. That is a single account accessible for all countries for those who operate online. They also have the ability to open a standard US Account for non-residents.
Or you could try these dodgy people…
