    Hi

I’d really some help with ideas about painting over laminated kitchen cupboards. I’m purchasing and 70’s house to rent out – so don’t want to spend much money – just spruce the place up a bit. The kitchen has lime green benches and dark brown cupboards. I actually don’t mind the green and thought I could jazz up the kitchen with lighter doors.

Also I’ve heard people talk about airless spray guns for painting interior walls/ceilings, can anyone tell me a bit more about this???

    Thanks

I’m just putting a lime green benchtop in my PPOR – fashion is so cyclical.

There are products you can use to paint over laminate. Try the White Knight brand. They’ll have something. You’ll find them in specialist paint stores and larger hardware stores – like Bunnings.

New, white doors won’t cost much, though. Get them done in melamine with a PVC edge. Take the old doors in and tell them to match the sizes and the hinge positions. There are lots of place who will do this. If you need someone in Sydney, let me know. Easy.

Thanks – I’ll check out Bunnings.

The house is in Bundaberg Queensland – so I might have to find a cabinet maker there

    I agree with White Knight.

If you get new doors go for the extra wide PVC strip, it wears much better.

The only trouble with the airless spray is the time you spend masking the windows and doors etc. Should be no probs to paint over the laminate using the products that the others mentioned.
