All Topics / General Property / Why won’t the blinds shut?
Hi Experts,
Hoping someone can help. Have a set of blinds in a house that look new, they are slimline venetion blinds.
When you twist the thing that makes then open and close, well, they open fine, but htey odn’t quite close up tightly agianst each other. If I go outside and stand close to the window I can still see in the gaps.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problme may be and how I fix it? Wondering whether I need to loosen the strings off or something?
Looking forward to your help.
Regards
PKHi PurpleKiss,
You may have lost a ‘tooth’ off the winding mechanism, or there may be something stuck in the winding mechanism. If you can pull the top portion apart (you might have to remove it from the window first), have a look for foreign objects or broken bits around the top of the ‘twist control open/close rod’.
Other than that I would suggest you ring up one of the retailers who specialise in window coverings and have a chat with them, they might be able to shed some light on the problem.
It may also be a fault with a certain batch that were manufactured, in which case you should be able to get a replacement.
Regards,Sharon
Thanks Sharon,
Shall have a look.

here’s a tip… was fitting out a unit and got quotes for custom made slimlines. prices were about $1500. my crafty father went to Spotlight and bought a stack off the shelf for about $30 and cut them down to size, I saved about $1000. was a bit of mucking around but the result was excellent
