All Topics / Finance / Who ya gonna call?
Morning all
I have finance through the lender from hell. I won’t go into the details too much, because I posted it once before somewhere in this forum.
I rang last monday to ask for a discharge authority, saying that I needed it to submit with a finance application. The bloke I spoke to asked if I had a fax, and I said no, but could he get an electronic copy and email it. He said he should be able to get a soft copy for me, so I hung up thinking I would get a discharge authority in the next couple of days, either by email or snail mail.
A week later and I get nothing, so I email this bloke, asking what the procedure is for sending out a discharge authority so I could understand why it was taking so long. I get an email back saying that I had to fax a request for it to them, then they would give it to their solicitors who would liaise with my solicitor about settlement dates, etc.[angry2]
I was pretty mad when I got that email, becasue he implied that he would just send it out to me, and there was no hint of me needing to fax anything or do anything, other than what I’d done by ringing and asking for it.
This is nothing new with this finance company. The application process with them was an absolute nightmare, and now it seems the saga continues.
One thing that really got my goat with them was that I saw a fax they sent to my broker (I have a copy of it) that said “Broker’s fee: payable: no $0.00”. When I got the loan documents, there was an “Originator Commission Fee” listed for 1% of the purchase price. I rang and ranted and raved about it, but they would not budge. I was so worn out by then by all the darma with them, that I just wanted to get things settled, so I let it go.
Now I’ve had enough. I want to know who I can go to to complain about these people, and who I can go to for help to get my 1% back which I was told, and have in writing, that I wouldn’t have to pay. I’ve just totally had this mob up to the back teeth.
Can anyone tell me who is the best to call for advice/help with this sort of thing in NSW? Sometimes just knowing the right body/organisation to threaten a shonk with is enough to get appropriate action, so I’m hoping that with the right information I can get this sorted and move on.
Cheers

This sort of thing happens all the time. Lenders are very slow when you you want to discharge. They seemt o try and drag things out as long as possible.

And why shouldn’t they. You have just said to them, “I am no longer your customer”. Can you blame Banks if they tend to focus their attentions on people who ARE their customers. <— me being the devil’s advocate.
And they are probably thinking, lets get a few extra days of interest from these deserting customers.
