Just wondering if you know what the best deal for a standard variable is going around at the moment. Home path (online lender owned by CBA) is 6.15% on a fully featured variable – not sure about IO, I think it is an option. Free redraws, no app fees, no ongoing monthly (subject to change – like Derivex!).

I would appreciate any tips on cheap loans out there, especially those with a fixed interest rate option (homepath is only variable).

Just remember that homepath have stripped down service to match the rate. CBA normally have apalling service and responsiveness but Homepath take that standard and drive it lower.

If you have issues you may have trouble contacting a person to assist.

I’m sure a broker will be able to offer a full service alternative.

    Hi,
I’ve not used them personally, but I mentioned them to a work colleague and she said that she’s been with HomePath for years and was very happy with them.
    Landt.
P.S her husband is a high ranking home loans officer with CBA so I don’t know if that has any bearing on what she says.

I have heard that Homepath are slow and frustrate many people with their service up to settlement however I have heard no complaints with their service post settlement.

If you want a stripped down product then it may well suit.

I have also heard they are slow, so slow, in fact, that it is hard to settle on a purchase within the alloted time frames,

The slow settlement applies to the parent too. We have never had CBA settle on time no matter how much lead time they are given.
