All Topics / Opinionated! / Are Personal Messages Useful?
Hi,
It’s been a few months now since we added personal messages to the site?
I’d like to ask two questions:
1. Is the facility helpful?
2. What other changes or improvements would you like to see made to the site.Regards,
Steve McKnight

I think PM”s are great and use them quite a bit now.

Adelaide SAI regularly use them and I have only been with the forum a short time. I find them invaluable for asking questions so that i do not look “silly” when discussing topics within the forum.
Hi,
I’d just like to add that I find the recent addition of what appears to be “automated linking” (to other areas of the site) to be annoying. Also, the linking is often inappropriate with the content of the message being posted.

I forgot to ask for a LIVE CHAT ROOM. These are good for quick conversations instead of having to wait for someone to respond in the forum.
Chat rooms are also great for mini-seminars / events or guest speakers (like the accountant or the guy who made The Investment Detective or the wrappers). It creates an excellent online community. Times are just announced for special events.
Moderation is not hard either. It is easy to boot those who abuse the room. Believe me – I KNOW!
What does everyone else think?

I really don’t believe the ASIC line…but there are plenty of sharetrading forums anyway.
Rob,
I know of a few reasonable share forums, PM me if interested, I will send you the links.
Cheers

Gatsby. There are heaps of cheap and FREE chat rooms available that intgrate well.
Regarding the share discussions, I don’t see ASIC having a problem. Nothing is being sold throuh the site so there is no licensing issues.
The reason I would prefer it here is because I don’t like jumping around to different forums. I prefer everything in the one place.
I don’t like 100% shares only discussion anyway. I like a mix of different investment discussions.

PM’s are great- they allow interaction without getting your head blown off and sharing of detailed information- which may not be relevant to the discussion at hand.
CHAT ROOM would be good too.
PiperAgreed. PMs good. Use them time to time. Live chatroom would be fabulous!!!
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
I agree that a chat room would be a good addition, and is certainly on the cards.
Also on the drawing board is a new design for the site, including additional content and other resources.
Of course, this will take some time – perhaps a few months – but be patient as it will happen.
Also, please keep the suggestions coming in.
Regards,
Steve McKnight
