I am about to purchase my first house and am eligible for the $7000 state govt grant. But I had heard that the Federal Government still provide a part of the FHOG of about $5000.
I can’t find out where I can get in touch with the Federal Govt department that looks after this.
I need help somebody.
Is the $5000 Fed Grant for real, and if so
where can I find out about it.thanks

The $7000 grant is a federal grant.
If you’re in Vic, the state govt throws in an extra $5k.
hope that helps
cheers
rThink you get extra $$ in the NT as well. You should also get some sort of stamp-duty consesion (don’t hold me to it). Try a google serach for “first home buyers grant information”
Hope that helps

Email MeThanks Claire.
I did the search on Google and came up with the information I want.
For others in my position here is the dealFHOG is $7000 and the Vic State Govt throw in a bonus of $5000. Both are administered by the State Revenue Office.
There are also some additional duty concessions for pensioners and families. You need to obtain the details about the concessions as there is quite a list of criteria that you have to meet.
One thing though – the Vic Govt Bonus is available only until 30 June 2005.
Thanks all for your participation. You have steered me in the right direction.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
