An Amazing Maths Trick
Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.
Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country.1. Grab a calculator. (you won’t be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first four digits of your phone number
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2
Do you recognize the answer?

Geo,
If you write it down as an algebraic equation then simplify it, the answer is just the phone number you started with.
If you want to see the maths, if you say the first four digits are ‘x’ and the second four digits ‘y’, then you have:
(250(80x+1)+2y-250)/2
which simplifies down to:
10000x+y
which is the original phone number.
GP
You can make it even more complicated, but as long as the final result is 1000x+y you will have the same answer. So, do you want 10 years old to rule this country?
Well Geo, I liked it anyway……[biggrin]
Sorry, my algebra is a little rusty.
