All Topics / Help Needed! / Where to Invest
I’m currently an apprentice in a remote region of the Northen Territory. After completeing Steve’s book and reassessing my goals and ambitions, I’ve decieded that investing into ‘positively geared’ properties is a great steping stone to achieving my goals. Now that I have identified that this is the direction I wish to take I’m having trouble firstly finding where to invest, primarly due to my remote locality, and also what essentially to invest in, (commercial, industrial, residential etc). Also with gaining financing as I’m still completing my apprenticeship and have a relativly low income. So in summary I am asking for information concerning where to invest and differentiating between the different types of loans and there pro’s and con’s. Any information or links to resources would be greatly apprecieated.
thanks for your time,
Ben.I’d like info on the different types of loans and the pro’s and con’s myself. That would be good info.
Hi Knuckles here,
I use an mortgage offset account, where any money i have parked in my savings account is offset against my mortage so i only pay interest on the differance between them.I have had a line of credit before and that worked well however the interest rate is generally higher and i personally feel more comfortable with the offset account.
Cheers
Scott
Summary on the different types of loans? This is a big ask.
Luckily there is some basic definitions on my website. Please post or email with any more specific questions.

Thanks all for your responses so far. Very informative indeed. Thanks a lot Scott for your insight into offset accounts. It was very helpful and assisted me a great deal. Thanks also Simon, what an informative site you have created. I briefly looked at what you have to offer and will do some more research and get back to you with some more questions.
Once again thanks for your time,
Kind regards,
Ben.“Hi Knuckles here” Pleased to meet you Knuckles.
MortgageHunter can you explain how you make money and whats involved in your work? A run down of your day to day activities perhaps.
And an explaination of the duties to do as a Mortgage Hunter. And what’s involved for your clients?
P.S. “This is a big ask”. Come on down trooper; can you do your stuf!?
Have you looked around Darwin, the outlying areas and even possibly into the north of WA ( Broome etc)as a start ?
Start ‘reasearching’ and getting a *feel* for different areas..
