Has anyone ever moved a house and what is involved.

I have found one that I feel I would get for nothing, I would need to purchase land to put it on and then move it.

It is a 3 BR with a large loungeroom, no windows as they have been smashed but the walls are perfect, I understand there may be some damage in the move, it also has a tile roof.

Once moved and completed, depending where I put it, it should fetch over 100K

There is nothing wrong with the idea and if done properly can make a good deal of profit. What you have to do is work out all the costs.Relocation, new roof, windows, plastering, electrical, plumbing.septics if needed, landscaping, painting, driveway, patio, paving, fencing, retic, roll on lawn.Price of block.
There are a lot of costs to consider.Another one is engineers certificate.
Then you look at what is in the area and what they are selling for.Is your finished product going to equal or better what is there?
If you can do it all and sell for a comparable price with profit then go for it.
But remember you will have to get your hands dirty if you want to make a profit.

Did anyone watch Hot Auctions last night? These two guys purchased a house with plans of moving it onto a block of land they’d purchased elsewhere. They won the bidding at the auction with the price @ $265k only to find out that the council where the empty block was wouldn’t allow for the house to be moved there as it was too big. So a simple but easily forgotten thing to check would be council approval.. get all the measurements etc ready. [blush2]

I’ve seen quotes from people on here who’ve done the ‘moving’ thing, and it appears they’ve paid up to $40K (and more) to move a house.

Hot Auctions last night (not the newgen mentioned one, the following one) had a $15K house moved to a ‘block nearby’ for either $21K or $24K. I think that was just moving, not electricity, water etc.

    Cheers

Also depends on what the house is made of. My parents moved a house many years ago a distance of about 300k’s. Took four semi-trailers. If you do move a house, check for references etc on the people doing the move – what we saw when they moved our house was mind-boggling. Have you ever seen a complete bathroom shake, rattle and roll on a semi-trailer when it was being “un-bogged?” Quite nervous, Mum and Dad were.

    Cheers
