I Thought the $12 000 House in WA was the cheapest i could find..’until’ now..

    In todays paper..

YOU can’t buy much for a dollar these days – but bargain hunters can pick up a house for just $1 in today’s ReadersMART.

When property developer Geoffrey Cook bought a Scarborough property recently he decided the original home was too good to just knock down.

Mr Cook bought the property from an elderly couple who had lived there for 33 years.
He is planning to build a duplex on the land and will sell the original seasoned-timber cottage for $1 to anyone who is willing to remove it themselves.

“I think this home would be perfect as a beach residence and it would certainly be ideal for a farming community and they could maybe use it for staff quarters,” he said. “I believe it would cost about $30,000 to $40,000 to pick up the house and take it away.”

He said the removal cost would be a lot lower than the cost of building a home outside of Perth.

“The home is in very good condition, all the timbers are very good

Maybe this house would go well on one of those Free land deals advertised in remote regional areas, so there you go..Possibly the Cheapest IP $1 and Land $0
( not including removal costs [biggrin] )

    Hi Redwing,

you did very well to find a deal like that. And to find a honeymoon rate at 4.84% is excellent.

I too found a house in SA for $12,000 but it needed alot of maintenance – so you out beat me – Congratulations.
