Within 6 weeks the ATO will release new guidelines on deductions Landlords could claim for items such as lighting, air-conditioning and vacuum cleaning systems etc
Depreciation is believed to account for the second biggest Chunk of the $13.2 Billion claimed in rental deductions by 1.3 million taxpayers, trailing only deductions for intrest payments.
The ATO would extend the list of items eligible and is ‘targeting’ the 1.3 million taxpayers claiming rental deductions aech year, including 60’000 who bought IP’s last year..
